How Booking, Pickup, and Return Work on Linkiipal
Renting an item on Linkiipal is simple. This tutorial walks you through placing a booking, picking up your item, and returning it when your rental ends.
For this example, we’ll book an item for one day and choose Pickup as the receiving method.
Step 1: Log in to your renter account
Visit the Linkiipal website or open the mobile app, then log in to your renter account.
Step 2: Find your item
Browse for the item you need, then select it to open its product page.
On this page, you’ll find:
- The Owner’s profile and options for contacting them.
- The item’s title, location, and pictures.
- Its description, special features, and safety requirements.
- Rental options, any required security deposit, and available receiving methods.
- Date and quantity selections.
- Pricing details and the cancellation policy.
- The Book Now and Add to Cart buttons.
Read the description, safety requirements, and cancellation policy carefully before proceeding.
Step 3: Select your booking options
Choose your desired rental duration. For this example, select a one-day rental.
Next, choose how you would like to receive the item. Depending on the listing’s available options, you can pick it up yourself or have it delivered.
For this example, select Pickup, choose your start and end dates, and set the quantity you need.
Step 4: Review your booking
Review your selected dates, quantity, receiving method, and pricing details, including any required security deposit.
Click Book Now to proceed to payment, or select Add to Cart if you want to continue shopping for multiple items.
For this example, click Book Now.
Step 5: Submit your booking request
Enter your card details when prompted, then click Pay to submit your booking request.
After a successful payment, you’ll be directed to a success screen. Click Reservation to view your booking.
Your booking request may still requires the Owner’s acceptance. Successful payment does not mean the Owner has accepted it yet.
Step 6: Receive confirmation and coordinate pickup
Once the Owner accepts your request, you’ll receive an email confirming acceptance.
Use Linkiipal’s messaging feature to ask any questions about the rental and confirm the pickup and return times with the Owner.
Step 7: Go to the pickup location
Once your pickup time is confirmed, open your reservation and click the item’s location to navigate to the pickup address.
Plan to arrive at the agreed time.
Step 8: Inspect the item and confirm receipt
When you arrive, ask the Owner to show you how to operate the item safely.
Check the item’s condition and any included accessories together. Discuss any concerns with the Owner before taking the item.
Take pictures of its current condition for your personal records.
When the Owner begins the rental, you’ll be prompted to mark the item as Received. Confirm receipt after the item has been handed over to you and before leaving the pickup location.
You’re ready to enjoy your rental!
Step 9: Let the Owner know you’re ready to return
As your rental period approaches its end, open Linkiipal and go to your reservations.
Select the rental, then click Return Ready to notify the Owner that you’re ready to return the item.
Confirm the return time with the Owner before heading to the return location. Plan your trip so the item arrives within the agreed return timeframe.
Step 10: Return the item
At the Owner’s address, hand over the item and all included accessories.
Allow the Owner time to inspect the item and take pictures of its returned condition. Review any concerns together before leaving.
Step 11: Complete your rental and leave a review
Once the Owner confirms receipt and marks the rental as Completed, the return process is finished and you may leave.
You’ll then be prompted to rate your experience with the Owner.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed your first rental on Linkiipal.
